Being in a fairly new relationship, *Whitney was torn about what to do when her boyfriend strongly pushed for her to abort their child. Whitney almost gave in to his demands when she canceled her appointment for an ultrasound at LaVie and scheduled an abortion at another clinic.
“Break my heart for what breaks yours, oh Lord.” The significant weight Whitney carried was real and we felt it! We continued to pray for her little family, including her boyfriend, that his heart would soften and he would feel a deep fatherly love for his child.
A few days after canceling her ultrasound, Whitney called back, stating that she had changed her mind and wanted to see if she could still come in for an ultrasound. She had canceled her appointment for the abortion and was preparing herself to step up and be the mom God had made her to be, with or without the support of her baby’s dad. She stepped out in faith because, in her heart, she knew it was the right thing to do!
Whitney came in for that ultrasound and saw her little baby, the size of a single grain of rice; so small, yet so visibly alive, wonderfully made and loved beyond measure!!
We continued to follow Whitney’s progress in her pregnancy with our “Care” program by periodically calling her with encouragement and support. Sometimes that just meant listening with a sympathetic ear and letting her know she is not alone.
On one particular care call, Whitney spoke very excitedly about new life events! Her boyfriend had that change of heart we prayed for! He is now, not only on-board with this pregnancy, but he has purchased his growing family a new home and has fallen in love with the thought of being a dad. He has even helped to come up with a name for their baby!
Praise God for another answer to prayer!
