A WORD FROM THE CEO
Several years ago, LaVie had the pleasure of hosting Scott Kluesendorf, author of The Case for Life, as a keynote speaker. Scott quickly engaged our audience in how one can have a truthful and non-contentious conversation about abortion with anyone.
Scott’s argument is simple— “It is wrong to kill an innocent human being. Abortion kills innocent human beings; therefore, abortion is wrong.”
The only question remaining then is: “Is the unborn a member of the human family? If the unborn are not, then taking their life, for any reason, does not have to be justified.”
The Christian worldview: “…you knit me together in my mother’s womb…I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” (Psalm 139: 13-16), is not sufficient for non-believers to change their minds regarding their views on abortion.
Scott winsomely uses science and philosophy to support his argument that the unborn are “distinct, living and whole human beings” and there is “no moral significant difference between the embryo you once were and the adult you are today.”
The S.L.E.D. Method:
Using his S.L.E.D. method, Scott has successfully debated with thousands around the world on the topic of abortion.
SIZE | Size does not equal value. Men are generally larger than women, but that doesn’t mean they have more rights.
LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT | Think of your youngest child or your 80-year-old mother suffering from dementia—are they any less human than you or me?
ENVIRONMENT | Where you are has no bearing on who you are. How can a journey eight inches down the birth canal suddenly change the essential nature of the unborn from non-human to human?
DEGREE OF DEPENDENCY | If viability makes us human, then are all those who depend on high-blood pressure medicine, insulin, or kidney medication less valuable?
The LaVie team is more determined than ever to serve our patients and their unborn babies with life-affirming, compassionate, loving solutions and evidence-based care. Thank you for continuing to support LaVie. Our work is only possible thanks to the generosity of partners like you.
